The Canadian Screen Award nominations were recently announced, which is the Canadian equivalent of the Emmys and the Oscars. As we continue the conversation about getting more women hired for roles behind the camera, this special Fem TV episode takes a look at how the TV nominees for the 2018 Canadian Screen Awards — or CSAs — look compared to the 2017 Emmys when it comes to female representation.

Bridget Liszewski of The TV Junkies joins Melissa to discuss the directing and writing categories at the CSAs and see how they measure up to the most recent batch of Emmy nominees and winners.

Fem TV Mini: ‘Absentia’ Star and Executive Producer Stana Katic

Fem TV Mini: Catherine Reitman on Her CBC Comedy ‘Workin’ Moms’

We end 2017 with a Fem TV minisode featuring Catherine Reitman. Many know her from her roles on Black-ish and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. In Canada, she’s creator, executive producer, star, and director of the CBC comedy Workin’ Moms. Season 2 begins in January 2018, and earlier this week, a special prequel episode aired that featured a couple of the characters in their younger days.
